Only one other Kix member contributed to the songwriting, Steve Whiteman on the song "Sex". Midnite Dynamite" (Halligan J. Purnell) – 3:51.

Although Kix's material remained more ambitious than the pop-metal groups they were lumped in with, the group went for a more pop-metal sound on Midnight Dynamite by using Beau Hill (best known for his work with Ratt and Warrant) as their producer.

Kix's third album, Midnite Dynamite, captured the self-proclaimed "Dirty Boys of the Underground" at their peak and is still required hair-metal listening in some circles. So why should you give this one a spin? Read on. Kix band photo Source. A Brief History of Kix. After coming out of the more New Wave inspired Cool Kids, Kix teamed up with Beau Hill, one of the Pop Metal "master producers", and released Midnite Dynamite, who went for a more straight forward Hard Rock sound while keeping the band electric almost Alternative sound. As an album, it is probably the bands strongest set of songs, it has a distinct sound packed with "drooling" guitars, catchy riffs and chorus and a rather happy sound, all polished by good production values. To decompose each song individually, the album, having a more major production, follows a certain formula often seen in Pop Metal: First, it starts with the title track being the most anthemic of the album to grab hold of the listener, then the other more "casual" songs ("Red Hot (Black 'n' Blue)", "Bang Bang (Balls of Fire)", "Layin Rubber") that set a mood that will be shattered by the "obligatory", keyboard driven, power ballad ("Walkin Away", in this case a demonstration of Kix's musical originality), then comes the minor hit towards the end of the album to seal the deal ("Cold Shower", the most electronic song of the album). In this case, all these elements are all united to form a neat little package that is musically stimulating, easy to listen to and so darn entertaining, in fact we could even call it a "perfect album".
