Marcia Griffiths started singing professionally in 1964, for Byron Lee and the Dragonaires band. Her recording years started soon after, at Coxsone Dodd’s - Studio One where she recorded her first hit Feel Like Jumping. While recording at Studio One Marcia teamed up with Bob Andy and many duet recordings followed. Following that duet success, she went solo again on the High Note label with Reggae's sole established female producer - Sonia Pottinger - hitting with several songs

Marcia Griffiths – Naturally/Steppin’. Released 11th August 2017. Twofer bringing together the two solo albums by Marcia Griffiths, the first of which emerged 14 years after her career began in 1964 at the age of 15. LTW’s Ian Canty hears one of Reggae’s great voices on fine form. It made for the perfect introduction to the album, elegantly and measured singing backed by the cream of JA’s session players on tip top form. On occasion old rhythms would also be utilised, like on Tell Me Now, always a favourite which Marcia recorded four times in total.

Marcia Griffiths made her debut with the group on the album Natty Dread and became a crucial presence in the Wailers’ stage and recording line-up until Marley’s death in 1981. The I-Threes however became a successful recording group in their own right by releasing the albums Beginning in 1983, and Songs of Bob Marley in 1995. The album Rock My Soul appeared in 1984, followed by Marcia in 1988, Carousel in 1990, and Indomitable in 1995. A series of new albums arrived in the late ‘90s and into the new millennium, aided by Griffiths international success, the releases cemented the singer as a staple and pioneer of the reggae genre. Marcia Griffiths had some surprisingly surrealistic psychedelic songs from the get go, when she started her set. The festival was in love with what they were hearing.
