Simon Barere (Russian: Симон Барер; 1 September 1896 – 2 April 1951) was a Russian pianist. Barere was born in Odessa (then Russian Empire, now part of Ukraine) as the eleventh of thirteen children in a Jewish family. He studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory under Anna Yesipova and then Felix Blumenfeld.

After the appearance of Bryan Crimp's valuable refurbishments of Simon Barere's dazzling HMV recordings of 1934–6 ( APR7001, 12/85), an enthusiastic reader enquired (February 1986, page 1005) about further performances by this pianistic description, not just mine-and mentioning that he had heard of the existence of recordings by him of Liszt and Rachmaninov.
