GRITS is an award-winning Christian rap duo from Nashville, Tennessee. Stacey Coffee Jones and Teron Bonafide Carter were backup dancers for dc Talk before signing with Gotee Records and making their debut in 1995 with the album Mental Releases. Their jazz-hop sound evolved to a more commercial hip-hop by the release of 1999’s Grammatical Revolution featuring the single They All Fall Down. Their follow-up album The Art of Translation scored them more hits with the salsa-sampling single Here We Go and another hit Ooh Ahh featuring former dc Talk mentor TobyMac
