Fillmore East, New York, NY. Sony Music Studios, New York, NY. Submit Corrections. In fact two of the songs, the lengthy Nyro originals "American Dove" and "Mother Earth" (the latter clocking in at eight minutes), appear here for the first time anywhere. It's just Nyro and her piano on this recording, and while the sleeve note apologizes for the sound quality due to deterioration of the tape, actually it sounds pretty good, though not pristine.

Gonna Take a Miracle is the fifth album by New York City-born singer, songwriter and pianist Laura Nyro, with assistance by vocal trio Labelle. It was released on Columbia Records in November 1971, one year after its predecessor, Christmas and the Beads of Sweat. The album is Nyro's only all-covers album, and she interprets mainly 1950s and 1960s soul and R&B standards, using Labelle as a traditional back-up vocal group.

Sample this album Artist (Sample). 1. 30. American Dove (Live). I highly recommend this rare or hard to find Laura Nyro live concert at The Fillmore East. So nice to hear the audience loving the music and the artist. It was a chilly night in February, 1971 at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida (yes, it does get cold there occasionally), when I first heard Laura Nyro in concert. Sadly, it was the only time I would see her, due to her untimely death in 1997. She only played for forty minutes due to the cold outdoor weather, but my life was changed forever. Imagine that, a live recording of a similar show I had seen only 3 months prior!
